SUN, STEEL & STRIP
Reef City Rods and Customs throws open the gates once again for Run in the Sun, July 3–5, serving up a wintery Queensland welcome in the Gladstone region. We rolled through last year and can verify it’s got the three R’s: roddin’, racin’, and relaxin’.
Set against the backdrop of the Calliope Historical Village, Saturday afternoon’s show is the big drawcard, with lots of local heroes so you’ll be sure to see something different, backed by plenty of food, cold drinks, and live entertainment to keep the vibe humming. Camping on site is the go, giving entrants a front-row seat to the weekend, plus a steady supply of good old-fashioned home cookin’.
Big news for this year is the return of drag racing at Beneraby Raceway on Saturday morning. It’s all about fun over form—bring your ride, line it up with your mates, and give it a squirt down a proper strip. No stopwatch heroes here, just good times and simple rules, but you will have to be a Run in the Sun weekend entrant.
