HEATHCOTE DRAGWAY CLOSURE

Heathcote Park Raceway, near Bendigo in Victoria, has announced that it will close, effective July 21. A public post in July cited a combination of regulatory authorities’ notices, the lack of racer numbers, rising expenses, and public complaints about noise as the main factors.

“We sincerely apologise to the racers and enthusiasts who will no longer have a facility to safely enjoy their love and passion for motorsport and to the young people who were able to let off steam in a safe and controlled environment,” they stated.

The drag strip has been in operation since 1977, changing hands numerous times, and was most recently purchased by Lance Warren, who made significant inroads in restoring the track to its former glory.
