VHRA FESTIVAL FIRES UP THIS WEEKEND

Clear the diary and give the lawn mowing a miss — Melbourne’s hot rod scene has somewhere much better to be this weekend! The 57th Victoria Hot Rod and Street Machine Festival fires up at its new home at Caribbean Park, Scoresby, this Saturday and Sunday, September 12–13.

Presented by the Victorian Hot Rod Association, the long-running show is getting a fresh festival-style makeover, with indoor and outdoor displays packed with hot rods, customs, classics and street machines. Throw in trade and market stalls, food trucks, family entertainment and fireworks, and there should be plenty happening even when you’re not staring under bonnets.

Spectators can roll through the gates from 10am at Caribbean Park, 1280 Ferntree Gully Road, Scoresby, with action across Saturday and Sunday before things wind up at 5pm Sunday. General admission is $30 plus booking fee, with tickets available through the VHRA website.

Bringing your own pride and joy? There’s room for enthusiasts to bring their own hot rod, custom, classic or street machine and become part of the weekend for no more than the price of general admission.

After more than half a century of celebrating modified machinery, the VHRA is shifting gears with a new venue and a new-look event. So grab the family, round up your mates and head to Scoresby for a weekend of chrome, horsepower and questionable decisions about what your next project should be!
