CRUZIN MAGAZINE #296 – SPEED EDITION
Cruzin #296 is a Speed Special, so naturally we’ve filled it with cars that are fast, loud and unlikely to improve your fuel economy!
Leading the charge is Nitro Joe Kurtovic’s chopped, supercharged and chrome-laden 1933 Ford three-window coupe. It’s bold, beautifully finished and subtle in much the same way as a stick of dynamite.
Matt and Sam Refalo share the keys to a tough 1929 Chevy roadster, while Lucky Burton earns the title Speed Junkie with his hard-charging 1931 Ford Model A coupe. We also revisit Con Soldatos’ 1936 Ford coupe, a former nine-second warrior now enjoying life at a slightly more civilised pace.
There’s plenty of quarter-mile action from the inaugural Bangers & Mash Nostalgia Drags, where burnouts, battle scars and old-fashioned ingenuity matter just as much as elapsed times. We check out Californian Denny Sanders 1963 Plymouth Savoy, the same factory lightweight that his father raced throughout the 60s and 70s, and Grahame Blaby from Mildura opens the shed doors for a garage crawl packed with interesting machinery.
Elsewhere, Brad O’Regan fires up his wild 1949 Plymouth coupe, we uncover the history of a Big Knob salt racer and cross the ditch for Dannevirke’s Dannevegas and Shannon Spectacular.
Our regulars are back too, including Ian Winter’s beautifully detailed 1/16-scale Funny Cars, the Screamin’ Rebel Angels in Motorvatin’ Music, and from across the ditch, Dannevegas and Shannon Spectacular. We also introduce a new column – It’s a Gas – spotlighting Brad O’Regan’s 1949 Plymouth coupe vintage gas racer.
Don’t forget to eyeball Lola Bamba by Mitzi & Co on the centre poster, plus Trade Alley, classifieds and coming events.
