CHROME BUMPERS & ROUND HEADLIGHTS
Justin Young is a Hobart-based freelance photographer specialising in automotive images, and Chrome Bumpers and Round Headlights is his first attempt at a hardcover, high-quality coffee-table styled book.
Weighing in at a massive 264 pages, the book features 58 classic restorations, hot rods, and mild customs, all based in Tasmania. Each car includes a short story from the owner.
“Chrome Bumpers and Round Headlights was inspired by the 2012 book Art of the Hot Rod by Ken Gross and photographer Peter Harholdt, who designed and built a portable studio on a type of car trailer and travelled across America shooting 100 famous cars in one year,” writes Justin in his introduction.
“It came about over a coffee with well-known Tasmanian enthusiast Scott McElwee (aka Leroy). We discussed the concept and started developing a list of cars that fit the category.”
The book is $90 plus P&H, but it might be sold out by the time you read this. Justin is planning a second run, however, so register your interest by calling 0417 031 749 or online at www.jyphoto.com.au
