STAR PONTIAC BY CAHILL’S SPEED SHOP

One of the most memorable cars unveiled at the recent Hot Rod & Custom Auto Expo was this stunning Pontiac Chieftain, completed by Cahill’s Speed Shop in honour of the late Tim Cox.

After receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis at just 40 years of age, Tim purchased the car in 2022 and brought it to Cahill’s in early 2024 with a clear vision for its future. The team transformed the big Poncho with a 2.5-inch roof chop, airbag suspension and an LS-powered driveline, creating a sleek custom that perfectly reflected Tim’s plans. Sadly, Tim passed away before the build was completed, but his family remained committed to seeing the project through.

Darren and Debbie Cahill are the driving force behind this Brisbane-based family-run business, specialising in full and partial builds of hot rods and early classics with a focus on driveability and realistic budgets.

It's only fair to share...
