HISTORIC AUSSIE HOT ROD ON SHOW IN CALIFORNIA

A historic Australian hot rod is heading to the world’s biggest stage, with Michael Morris confirming plans to take the restored Gary Wright 1932 Ford roadster to Southern California in early 2027.

Michael Morris has locked in his much-anticipated pilgrimage with the beautifully restored hot rod. Originally built by Gary in the early 1960s, the roadster dominated local show circuits before disappearing for decades, only to be painstakingly brought back to life through a restoration spanning more than 15 years.

After appearing at hot rod and concours events around Australia, it’s now heading onto the world stage at the prestigious Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona. Michael was overwhelmed to learn that organisers will be placing the car in the AMBR Hall, alongside contenders for the coveted America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award. The itinerary also includes the Goodguys West Coast Nationals, Gathering at the Roc, and the legendary Sacramento Autorama (TBC). He is also hoping to be accepted into the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

“This isn’t just about taking a hot rod to America; it’s about sharing a piece of Australian hot rodding history with the world,” Michael points out. “We’re proud to be flying the Aussie flag on some of the biggest stages in the hobby, and we want Aussies to be part of that journey. Every dollar helps, and every supporter becomes part of the story.”

Getting a car, equipment, and support crew across the Pacific is no small undertaking, so if you’re keen to be part of this journey showcasing a small slice of Aussie hot rodding on the world stage, please reach out on 0429 621 722 or aussie32usatour@gmail.com.
