CRUZIN MAGAZINE #281 / SPEED EDITION
Wow, we have some fair-dinkum horsepower heroes for you in this special themed Speed Edition!
Speed goes hand-in-hand with style for hot rodders, and Tony Murray’s hand-built ‘Special’ is just that. For a guy who’s never done body work before, he’s proof that you can have a go and get an amazing result!
You won’t have to look far to find 1,000 horsepower – in this case, it’s Troy Smith’s 1932 Ford tudor, with a few inches off the top and out of the middle! A little more street-friendly is the Ronnie Williams Model A pickup, famous for its Buick Nailhead powerplant. Now in the hands of Ronnie’s son Brett, it’s been renovated to its former glory, and we look back at its 50-plus years in the one family.
You wouldn’t expect to find a bonafide factory-lightweight racer from the early 1960s down under, but Charlie Cuka managed to claw a real-deal 1965 Plymouth Hemi-special out of the States. Just as fascinating is the ex-Mickey Thompson Mustang funny car that resides in Perth, along with a replica, as we check out Greg Dale’s collection. Finally, under the category ‘Only in America’ – a street-driven supercharged Pro-Street 1963 Corvette, and the California cops hate it!
But enough of this standing around – let’s get busy! The Downs Dust-Up outside of Toowoomba is the place to be for hot rodders, young and old, to leave the tyre black at home and kick up some dirt! We also go a country mile to check out some Nostalgia Racing at The Bend in South Australia.
With a whole swag of columns and an awesome centre pinup poster by Mitzi & Co, Cruzin #281 is far from a speed read!
Grab it at your local, or buy online at www.drivebuy.com.au and pay no postage within Australia.
