LEGENDS LIVE ON AT SYDNEY HOT ROD & CUSTOM AUTO EXPO
Any hot rodder worth his wheel nuts will know of Big Daddy, and we don’t mean the drag racer!
Ed’ Big Daddy’ Roth was an artist, cartoonist, illustrator, pinstriper, and custom car designer and builder who greatly impacted kids and adults with his monster art and crazy creations. His legacy lives on through Rat Fink, the nemesis of Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse, which remains an iconic symbol of kustom kulture.
The family of Ed “Big Daddy” Roth will be special guests at the Hot Rod & Custom Auto Expo in Sydney in May. Ed Roth’s wife, Ilene, will be available to meet fans, sign autographs and share tales throughout the weekend. An authorised limited edition show t-shirt, tin sign, and poster will also be available from the Hot Rod & Custom Auto Expo Trade Stand.
The show also welcomes back Shige Suganuma and Sunny from Mooneyes, who are also excited to catch up with friends and enthusiasts.
The theme of Nostalgia Lane this year is speed, focusing on salt racers, gassers, and beach bandits like those who compete at RattleTrap. Expect a large contingent of car clubs rubbing shoulders with elite-level superstars. Shannons has stepped in to sponsor Motorbike Alley, featuring everything on two wheels, and Proflo Performance will host a showcase of vehicles with engine start-ups at selected times. Enthusiast Motor Insurance will be waving the flag in the outdoor show and shine on both days, then on Saturday night; the traditional show party will get underway in the Exhibition Hall at Rosehill from 5 pm. Phew!
The Sydney Hot Rod & Custom Auto Expo is open from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Rosehill Racecourse in Parramatta; for ticketing and info, visit hotrodandcustom.com.au
