The weekend of February 26-28 has been set aside for the third Old School Carralbyn weekender at Kooralbyn Valley resort and airstrip, south west of Brisbane.
Early birds are welcome to stay for the weekend, either camping or within the resort’s well-appointed hotel rooms and facilities. At 2pm on Friday, the Carralbyn Cup kicks off, a very non-serious golfing event for even less serious golfers. On Saturday, a hot rod rally to a special lunch destination gets underway at 11am, and racers are invited onto the airstrip for a test and tune from 3pm. Of course, Saturday night is party night with dinner and live entertainment. There’s no weekend entry fee, just pay as you play.
The weekend culminates with the 1/8 mile drags and car show on Sunday where selected rods and classics are invited to run with flag start and no timing gear, with the focus being on light-hearted rivalry rather than all out speed. Along with the massive pre-75 car display, it’s a big day out. Public entry on Sunday is $10 with kids U14 free. It gets underway from 9am, with trophies just after lunch, so don’t be late.
