$11 MILLION DOLLAR UPGRADE FOR SYDNEY DRAGWAY

An $11 million dollar upgrade for Sydney Dragway has been outlined in the NSW Government budget papers for 2019-2020. The main focus will be the track reconstruction that will deliver a new 500m concrete race track and a new asphalt braking area, but there will also be alterations and upgrades to the competitor and spectator entry areas, a new pit exit area for peak times and emergencies, scrutineering shed, facility lighting, amenities and landscaping.

Track side cameras, the weather station and timing boards are also scheduled for improvements, and wi-fi will be installed throughout the complex. A new kids play area, new merchandise store, a stand alone first aid store and shade sails are also included in the schedule.

The track has been temporarily closed since March in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions and will return to operations as soon as regulations are eased.
