The inaugural Old School Carralbyn airstrip drags that took place this year was a blast for all of those in attendance. Held at the Kooralbyn Resort in South East Queensland’s scenic rim, the three day event culminated in a morning of fast and fun, flag drop, heads up drag racing on the airstrip that services the luxury resort.
It’s all happening again on the weekend of February 28 through March 1, starting with the Carralbyn Cup, a very non-serious nine hole golf tournament on Friday afternoon. It’s a late start for Saturday’s lunch cruise, then entrants will get to spin their wheels at an afternoon test and tune. Dinner and live music will wrap up Saturday night, then Sunday is race day with gates opening at 7am and on track action from 9am. The eighth mile racing is restricted to pre-68 street cars, and the feature bracket for this year will be the H&H Flathead Challenge, for flathead-powered vehicles. Spaces are limited.
Also for 2020, the track will be open for Mini-Rod drags. Race entry is $20 or free with an adult race entry. Racers need to be 10 years and over with a helmet and suitable clothing. There will be a basic tech inspection for all vehicles, great and small.
Admission on Sunday is just $10 (kids U14 free) and pre-75 cars are welcome in the trackside show and shine.
Race entries close January 27, 2020. Applications and enquiries should go to email@example.com, or call Rod on 0418 762 576 for further info.
