Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car star attraction Chelsea Leahy has been getting plenty of seat time in the Nitro Sheriff wheelstander and is now looking forward to the next step into the big show.
Cutting her teeth as a youngster behind the wheel of a Junior Dragster, Chelsea quickly fell in love with the sport of Drag Racing. A few short years later, Chelsea started competing in her own front engine dragster.
Now, at just 22 years old, Chelsea is the second female in the world to ever license in a wheelstander and now refers to the Nitro Sherriff wheelstander like an old friend.
“It was the hardest car I’ve ever had to learn to drive, but now I’m having such a thrill putting on a show for all the race fans around Australia,” she said.
Chelsea’s father, Greg Leahy owns and races the ‘Storm Trooper’ Nitro Funny Car, which she is set to license in within the next month.
“I‟m beyond excited and determined to make this Nitro dream come true!” she beams
“This is a very exciting time in my life at the moment. I have been given these amazing opportunities like driving the Nitro Sherriff and now to be attempting to complete my competition licence to drive a 4000hp Outlaw Nitro Funny Car is just a dream come true.”
“I cannot thank Graham and Wendy Cowin and the entire Cowin Family Racing Team enough for giving me the opportunity to tour along with the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car series and I am so excited to see where the next step will take me.”
Look out for Chelsea and Greg Leahy at Willowbank Raceway this weekend when the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars hit Willowbank Raceway on Saturday, November 9. The Aeroflow Pit Party kicks off from 3pm to 4pm, with nitro racing from 4.30pm. Full details at www.willowbankraceway.com.au.
