As the annual Back to Brunswick run ventures into its second decade, the length of grass-roots guests continues to grow. For 2019, Bobby Walden of Walden Speed Shop will be making his way from California to South East Queensland before crossing the border to trade yarns at the big Brunswick weekend.
Walden Speed Shop is very much a quiet achiever. Inspired by the likes of The California Kid which he watched as a 12 year old boy, Bobby opened his own hot rod shop in Texas in 1993. He would eventually find his way to California, refining his metalworking skills further at So-Cal Speed Shop before branching out again in 2005 to open Walden Speed Shop. While renowned for his perfectly formed roof inserts and door skins, offerings quickly expanded to include full and partial chassis, a range of blower drive components for 4/71 superchargers and a range of beautifully styled hard parts. His complete builds have featured in multiple magazines and many enthusiasts gladly pay up to participate in one of his regular metal crafting seminars.
The Back to Brunswick weekend will follow its regular format of Friday and Saturday cruises and car show on Sunday in town. All roads lead to the Brunswick Heads Hotel at the close of each day for drinks, music, drinks, auction, drinks, presentations and more drinks. It’s clean family fun with a good dose of ale thrown in.
Back to Brunswick will run from July 12-14, 2019, and is hosted by End of the Road Rods and Classics. For info and entry, contact Rod Brewer on 0418 762 576 or firstname.lastname@example.org, or Peter Paynter on 0484 616 926.
