Entries are now open for DLRA Speedweek 2019. Speedweek is happing from the 4th to the 8th of March at Lake Gairdner South Australia. To download an entry form or find out more information, check out www.dlra.org.au.
Spectators are welcome. A trip to the lake makes for an unforgettable adventure for car guys and girls. You will be welcome in the pits, staging areas and start line, where you will witness the fastest cars and bikes in Australia do their stuff.
Be aware you will be in the Australian outback. The roads to the lake are good until you turn right at Iron Knob and drive the last 3 hours on dirt. You don’t need a 4WD if you drive sensibly and take your time. In the outback, it is always a good idea to take extra water and food in case you break down. Big Knob Racing usually stays at the Big 4 caravan park at Port Augusta overnight before SpeedWeek, get our supplies first thing in the morning, then cruise in for the last three hours in daylight to avoid kangaroos, emus and wild goats.
There are no hotels at the lake, so you need to camp. There is a canteen with good food at reasonable prices. Lake Gairdner is a national park, so what you take in you must bring out.
Volunteers are very welcome, in fact essential, to help the smooth running of our event. If you feel you would like to get more involved, check out the DLRA website at www.dlra.org.au.
