OLD SCHOOL DRAGS AT INNAUGURAL CARRALBYN EVENT

Kooralbyn Resort is the place to be on February 22-24 next year for the first running of Old School Carralbyn, an old school, arm drop 1/8 mile drag meet and hot rod show. Engineered by End of the Road Rods and Classics, it’s a full weekend run, with a meet and greet on Friday night, lunch cruise on Saturday followed by a late afternoon test and tune, then the big shebang on Sunday.

Drag racing will be restricted to selected pre-1968 vehicles, application forms will be available shortly. Racing will run from around 9am to 1pm on the airstrip adjacent to the resort, just like post-war USA. It’ll be flag drop with the main prize being bragging rights. We reckon just being a part of this first event will be bragging rights enough! There’s a pre-75 car show for the morning as well, so don’t leave your baby at home.

Kooralbyn is around a 90 minute cruise south of Brisbane city, or the same west of the Gold Coast, in SE Queensland’s scenic rim. Come for the day, or book a room at the recently renovated Ramada Resort for the weekend – special pricing will be available for entrants. The resort boasts a championship golf course, health spa, lagoon swimming pools, kayaking, laser clay pigeon shooting, paddle boating, four wheel driving and more. Camping will also be available.
