OLD SKOOL KEWL

The Katsanis boys at John’s Rod and Custom have been busy planning their two favourite events and have recently announced the dates for The Picnic and the Kustom Nationals.

This year’s Rod and Custom Picnic is number 26, that’s an amazing achievement for a privately run, home grown event. Clearly there’s something that’s keeping people interested! $10 bucks will get you through the gate, but unless you’re cruisin’ in pre-66 style, look for street parking. The guys will have their workshop open and projects on display, along with live bands and a kustom kulture exhibition. It happens on Sunday, November 4, which is Melbourne Cup weekend, at 74 Beaumont Rd, Berwick.

On the weekend of January 5-6, the Kustom Nationals Beach Party will kick into gear, the first big shebang for 2019. We’re saddened a little that the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is no longer part of the program, but if it’s taken you this long to get there, you probably were never going to make it! We love however that both the San Remo Foreshore and the main street of Cowes will make up the program, with San Remo hosting on Saturday afternoon from 1pm to 8pm, and Cowes Main Street and Esplanade the place to be all day Sunday. That’s a whole lotta kool in two great locations.

As far as the Kustom Nats is concerned, the focus is still on kustoms, and a special pre-entry form for Traditional Kustoms has been released. If you’re accepted, you’ll score free entry and prestige parking in the invite-only areas. Worth an email or a stamp (remember them…), and don’t wait until the last week. At time of print, it was only available on the Johns Rod and Custom facebook page, but you can always call the boys on 03 9796 2251.
