GIBBONS OUT BUT SUNDAY STILL SET TO SHINE

Queensland-based fans and followers of ZZ Top front man, Billy Gibbons will be disappointed to learn that the Up Close & Personal event scheduled for this evening (Jan 12) at the Eatons Hill Hotel has been cancelled. Unfortunately Gibbons is also unable to be the invited guest at the Jimmy Shine Classic this Sunday at the Sandstone Point Hotel. Gibbons sends his most humble and sincere regrets.

The hot rod and custom car show is still full steam ahead however, with prolific hot rod builder Jimmy Shine on hand to select his Top 20 from the hot rods, American and Aussie classics, muscle cars and bikes on show. Anyone familiar with Jimmy and his work knows that he’s a perfectionist when it comes to metal fabrication and overall styling, with a passion for speed as well. From this comes one additional award – The Billy Gibbons / Jimmy Shine Award of Excellence and a one-of-a-kind trophy. Gibbons and Shine have worked closely over the years and Jimmy is more than qualified to select a worthy recipient of this honour.

The show continues undercover as hostess with the mostess, Bettie Butcher, has assembled an ensemble of ladies for the Miss Shine pinup pageant. 10 ladies will take the stage in their finest daywear and be judged by special guest Jimmy along with his daughter, Kayla, who I’m sure will be aiding and abetting when it comes to the finer points of female fashion.

It’s all happening at the Sandstone Point Hotel, 1800 Bribie Island Rd, Sandstone Point. Vehicles are welcome from 8am with the show officially launching at 9am. Car and bike owners simply enter on the day and enjoy the hospitality at this fabulous location.
