Based in WA, Vintage Rod & Custom specialise in chassis building and fabrication. Such is there expertise is that they are regularly called upon to produce custom chassis for all manner of vehicles.
A recent job involved building a one-off frame for this 1937 Aston Martin long saloon, one of only fifty built. The story goes that this one fell off a trailer and got damaged, so instead of fixing the body, a bobtail race car was built over the original chassis.
Adrian Dewar from Bunbury acquired the complete body for $1,750 and asked VRC to make a custom built chassis. The rare exotic now runs a Toyota quad cam V8, Jag front and rear suspension and stainless steel wire wheels all round, much to the distaste of Aston Martin purists!
