Western Australia is bracing itself for a huge dose of Kustom Kulture when the West Coast Lowdown opens its doors on October 14-15 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organiser Irish Jardine has assembled more than two dozen tattoo artists, a selection of invitational builders and low brow artists, lowriders, bands, hot rods, choppers and kustoms for what will be the largest event of its type ever in the west.
For the bike guys, there’s $1,000 and a big-ass trophy on offer in the Bike Build-Off. Style of bikes can be long or short choppers, bobbers, cafe racers, modern or vintage lowriders, brat style, competition or full custom, but keep in mind the pre-65 theme of the show. The budget is $10,000 and the build will have to be documented online between September 1 and October 12, with the winner selected by public vote at the show.
It’s underway right now, the best way to keep tabs on the builds and builders is via the West Coast Lowdown facebook page.
