The Katsanis brothers are planning a vintage drags event over the 2018 Easter weekend at Bairnsdale Dragway in Victoria.

The criteria for race vehicles is still evolving but will be pretty staunch as far as period correctness goes, specifying pre-65 style wheels, both in design and size, as well as pre-65 engines which rules out the likes of Clevos and LS motors. The styling restrictions also rule out high back buckets, banks of Autometer gauges and modern looking shifters, and if you’re engine is exposed you’ll need period correct multiple carbs and accessories.

“These are not safety rules, but are here to ensure that the cars look of the period we are trying to emulate. We are also looking into the possibilities of running vintage dragsters with three point cages,” confirms Luke at John’s Rod & Custom.

Among the 10 proposed race brackets will be classes for Street and Competition Flathead, Hot Rod, Custom, Super Stock, Vintage Fuel and Bobber.
